ANZCO Foods CEO Update - June 2026
Posted on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 under Latest Edition, CEO Updates,
Our annual farmer events at the end of May and early June were well attended and it was great to meet with so many of you around the country.
Alongside GM Systems and Supply Grant Bunting and Head of Logistics Brent Falvey, I travelled to Bulls, Hastings, Kirwee, Lawrence and Drummond to share updates on ANZCO Foods’ business and outlook, livestock supply, logistics and supply chain activity, and key market developments.
The ‘Meat, Greet and Eat’ events generated positive discussion and engagement and we appreciate the opportunity to connect directly with our farming communities and share insights on the opportunities and challenges facing our industry. Given high market and farm gate pricing, a key takeout for me was the general sense of positivity in the farming sector and this was further supported by the outlook for ongoing strong market conditions.
Weather is emerging as one of the major themes for the next few months. Forecasts continue to indicate that El Niño conditions will emerge this winter. While regional impacts remain uncertain, it’s being suggested that you keep a close eye on feed budgets, water availability and spring planning as seasonal patterns become clearer. While uncertainty remains, New Zealand farmers have a strong track record of adapting to changing conditions and continuing to produce high-quality food for global markets.
With winter underway, it's a timely reminder to check in on your own wellbeing as well as those around you. Several sector organisations continue to invest in programmes aimed at supporting rural mental health and resilience, including a new initiative between Farmstrong and the Rural Support Trust – there’s more on that later in this newsletter.
As always, we appreciate your continued support and interest in our business and the wider industry, and we wish you all the best for the months ahead.
