Get Onside with ANZCO

Posted on Thursday, 15 January 2026

ANZCO Foods is working with Onside, a rural health and safety software tool, to help us and our farmer-suppliers meet our shared on-farm health and safety responsibilities.

Onside is used by farmers and agribusinesses across New Zealand, Australia and the UK. It’s a simple digital, mobile tool that makes it easy to identify and communicate hazards, risks and key points of interest with farm teams and contractors.

What this means for farmers:

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act, companies whose employees or contractors visit farms have shared PCBU responsibilities with farmers for keeping people safe.

This includes:

  • Identifying and communicating hazards and risks
  • Agreeing appropriate controls
  • Making sure people coming on-farm are properly inducted

For ANZCO Foods, this shared responsibility applies only to the areas of farms accessed by our livestock reps and contracted truck drivers – loading facilities and entrance ways.

These responsibilities aren’t new. We’ve chosen to work with Onside to make them easier to manage for farmers and ANZCO.

At a high level, farmers need to be able to show:

  • There is an induction process in place, and who has been inducted
  • Visitors to the farm are informed of relevant hazards and risks

Onside provides this and also makes it easy to record new hazards as they arise. There are other ways to manage these requirements, but ANZCO Foods has chosen to partner with Onside.

How Onside helps

Farmers are using Onside to give visitors a heads-up before they arrive, such as:

  • Tight turning areas for trucks
  • Children around the house
  • A bridge under repair
  • Shared driveways

It’s straightforward to use and saves time.

Roll-out and support

We rolled out Onside to ANZCO livestock reps and transporters in 2025 and made the ANZCO version available to farmers free of charge from July 2025.

The roll-out will continue for the next few years.

Farmers can set up Onside themselves, or one of our Producer Support Reps – Sam and Jacob – can visit to map the shared areas of responsibility and help get everything up and running.
