Latest changes to NZFAP and NZFAP Plus Standards

Update to NZFAP Standard (version 8)

The New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme (NZFAP) has been updated to version 8 following the annual review of the Standard. Farmers will be audited against version 8 from 1 October 2025 and will receive a copy of the Standard in advance of the audit date.

Certain requirements have been removed to reduce duplication, which are marked as “amended” at the end of each requirement in the Standard. Several requirements have been removed from the Animal Remedy Inventory and Storage (3.4.1) and the Agrichemical Inventory (3.6.1).

There are no new requirements to the NZFAP Standard (version 8). 

The following key for audit guidance has been added: 

C = conversation

D = documentation (document, spreadsheet, hard copy, digital app, photo etc.)

V = visual inspection

The ANZCO Foods Records Book has been updated to align with the latest NZFAP Standard (version 8) and will be available in the coming weeks. Please contact the QA Team at QAadmin@anzcofoods.com to request a hard copy to be posted to you.

Update to NZFAP Plus Standard (version 6)

The New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme Plus (NZFAP Plus) has also been updated to version 6 following the annual review of the Standard. Farmers will be audited against version 6 from 1 October 2025 and will receive a copy of the Standard in advance of the audit date.

Several changes have been made to reduce duplication and clarify the requirements of NZFAP Plus.

The following key for audit guidance has been added:

C = conversation

D = documentation (document, spreadsheet, hard copy, digital app, photo etc.)

V = visual inspection

 The following requirements are new or have been expanded to include additional requirements.

  • 2.2.4 Health and Safety
  • 3.6.3 and 3.6.8 Nutrient Management and Soil Health
  • 3.9.5 Indigenous Biodiversity 

The following requirements have been amended to provide clarity.

  • 2.2.3 Health and Safety
  • 3.3.4 Land and Freshwater Management Action Plan
  • 3.4.6 Freshwater Management
  • 3.10.2 and 3.10.3 Greenhouse Gases and Climate Change
