It's January and there's lots of delicious summer crops ready to harvest in the vege patch and the fruit garden.

It's a great time to plant:

  • Root vegetables like parsnip, carrot, beetroot, kumara, and radish
  • Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries
  • Green leafy vegetables like mesclun and lettuce
  • Spring onions
  • Beans
  • Tomatoes
  • Sweetcorn
  • Pumpkin
  • Passionfruit
  • Eggplant
  • Courgette
Harvest:

Here's a quick tip:
For the best tomatoes, leave the fruit to ripen on the plant. Birds enjoy tomatoes too so you may need to install bird netting to protect the ripening tomatoes.
