Getting match fit - January health and safety focus

Posted on Monday, 26 January 2026 under Health & Safety,

As work picks up again for the year, you might feel tired or stressed.

It’s important to pay attention to feelings of stress so you can resolve any issues before they impact you. Some signs that you’re stressed might be:

  • Feeling overwhelmed, or like you can’t switch off
  • Feeling irritated or angry
  • Having trouble getting to sleep
  • Headaches or nausea
  • Poor concentration or decision making

To help manage stress, you can:

  • Be kind to yourself – reward your achievements, even if they feel small
  • Develop your interests and hobbies
  • Spend time in nature – get out for a walk, take care of some plants, or spend time with animals
  • Look after your health – get enough sleep, do some physical activity, and eat a balanced diet
  • Keep in touch with friends and family

If you’re feeling stressed or fatigued at work, let your manager, supervisor or leading hand know as soon as possible.
