Waitara’s carton conveyor upgrade

Waitara’s carton conveyor has recently been upgraded, with support from contractors and our Automation team. The entire project was completed in an impressive five days.

With an automatic carton erector and liner inserter upgrade, the new conveyor now means the line can run fully automatically with only one operator. Previously, the old conveyor system was designed for two production lines, but three lines required cartons. Employees often had to manually make up cartons for the third line which was a time-consuming and labour-intensive job. On top of that, cartons frequently jammed in the transfer section of the belt, leading to downtime and potential health and safety risks for workers moving boxes.

Production began with the new conveyor system this week. The transition has gone smoothly and the site is now operating at its usual capacity.
