Meet Jordie Menzies
Trainee Supervisor at Kōkiri
Jordie has been part of the Kōkiri team for eleven years across two stints. He stepped away for nine months to try logging with a friend, but returned to ANZCO after realising just how full-on logging can be, and how much more he enjoyed working here.
He’s currently a trainee supervisor, learning all aspects of the role; computer work; paperwork; assigning operators to tasks; tracking yields; adjusting the chain speed to different specifications and cuts; and generally helping keep the room running. Before becoming a trainee supervisor, Jordie was in the slaughter and boning rooms as a process worker.
Since joining ANZCO, Jordie has seen quite a few people leave for other opportunities and then return - just like he did. He's noticed if people come back, they'll often stick around for quite a while.
Outside of work Jordie enjoys hunting wild game, mainly deer and pigs. He enjoys getting outdoors - when he's not hunting, he'll often take his retired pig dogs for a walk, and head out fishing in summer. He also enjoys spending time with his family - his partner and his partner’s two children.
