Meet Graham Boyes
Senior Shift Supervisor at Eltham
Graham – better known around site as Boyzo – is ANZCO Foods Eltham’s longest-standing employee. This year is his 54th season on site, and his claim to fame is that he's the longest-serving supervisor at ANZCO.
As Senior Shift Supervisor, Graham runs the packing room on the red shift. His role is to keep the room moving and fill in for the Production Manager if they’re away. After completing a Pathways course a few years back, he says he learned how to delegate tasks, but he’ll still jump on the floor to give the team a hand if things get busy.
Graham has seen a few people – and companies – come and go since he started at the site in 1971. Originally it was a Hutton’s site, processing pork and beef, and then it became Riverlands. Every now and again, people return to work at Eltham and say, “You’re still here?”
He worked at Eltham for 17 years before heading to Australia for a big OE, and then came back. Since then he’s worked almost everywhere: slaughter floor, boning room, offal room, shipping office, and the packing room. The only place he hasn’t worked is the freezers. He also ran a standalone night shift for four years before deciding he’d had enough of nights.
Graham says he was meant to retire after moving into the packing room, but he hasn’t quite gotten around to it yet. With his partner Jenny keen to visit family in the Philippines, he’s decided to keep working and save for their travels.
Outside work, Graham enjoys social darts – and he’s also keen on karaoke. After a busy day, he’s happy to head home and hit the couch. Graham lives with Jenny, her daughter Thea, and sister-in-law Malou. Graham’s daughter Hazel works in healthcare at Eltham, and his son-in-law Levi also works at Eltham as Site Health and Safety Leader.
