Meet Glenn West
Inventory Manager at Eltham
Glenn is Eltham's Inventory Manager, responsible for the site's coldstore. He and his team manage stock as it arrives in the coldstore, including racking down and loading out containers and local orders. Glenn plans ahead by ordering pallets of cartons, shrink wrap, and other things site teams need to package product – his aim is to have packaging ready to go when processing teams need it. He works with the further processing team, taking product to them for recartoning or relabelling when required. He also looks after freight accounts for site transfers, manages forklifts, works with the CloudSuite and Uniworks systems, and sorts out any issues like missing cartons. There's a lot of moving parts, but it keeps the role interesting, and that's why he's been doing it for 16 years!
Glenn started at ANZCO around 30 years ago as a Load Clerk, after working on the gantry crane with containers that were bound for ANZCO (which was Riverlands at the time). He then moved into IT and helped set up many of the systems we use today, including labelling and degrading systems, Canterbury's DEXA, Green Island's Uniworks, phone systems, and anywhere else he was needed. He also helped set up Waitara's coldstore site and team.
Outside work, Glenn is a keen motorsport fan and has been to Bathurst, Adelaide, and Gold Coast supercar races multiple times – and he's keen to attend the Indy 500 race in Indianapolis, USA. He's interested in trucks and keeps up with everything happening in New Zealand's transport industry. In his spare time, he enjoys reading trucking magazines and autobiographies. When he gets home after a busy day, he'll spend time in his garden or hang out with his four-year-old niece Ella.
