Hearing Awareness Month

Posted on Friday, 6 March 2026

March is Hearing Awareness Month, which raises awareness of hearing health and the experiences of more than 800,000 New Zealanders who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Everyone is at risk of hearing loss, although it’s most likely to occur in adults over 60, people working in noisy environments, people listening to loud music, and those taking certain medications that can damage the ear. Many people are unaware they have hearing loss, so regular hearing checks can ensure it’s detected early so you can keep hearing well.
