Greenlea receives Contribution to Community Award

On Thursday last week Matamata-Piako District Council (MPDC) held their annual business awards night. Greenlea Premier Meats Ltd received the 2026 Contribution to Community Award. Greenlea’s Morrinsville site is located in the MPDC area and employs more than 220 people in the region. 

Greenlea and the Greenlea Foundation have supported various community projects over the years including the Morrinsville walkway, the Morrinsville Museum, Campbell Park and the Morrinsville Rugby and Sports Club. 

Alongside joint venture partners at the Waitoa Industrial Estate, Greenlea has also contributed to a new 6 kilometre walkway along the Waitoa River which opens on 4 December.

The award was presented by MPDC Mayor Ash Tanner and received by former Greenlea managing director, Tony Egan.

“By looking around the room I think you’ll see many other people doing great things in the community,” said Tony. “I think occasions such as this one encourage us all to do better at what we do, and to try harder in our communities.”
