Canterbury’s health and safety drills

Posted on Friday, 20 February 2026

ANZCO Foods Canterbury ran three drills for the site’s recent Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) audit, focusing on LPG, chlorine, and sulphuric acid.

They ran these drills to demonstrate the team is competent in managing potential spills or leaks, and that they can respond quickly, safely, and in line with regulatory requirements.

They successfully passed the audit and also received feedback on areas to improve, which they’re currently integrating into their response plans.

The audits are completed annually so the site can maintain its Location Compliance Certificate and continue safely using and storing hazardous substances on site.

The audit assesses against a wide framework of compliance areas, including training records, security, signage, site plans, emergency management, separation distances, and more.
