Energy management | November and December health and safety focus

Posted on Friday, 7 November 2025 under Health & Safety,

Managing your energy levels is an important part of your health and safety at work and your personal wellbeing – particularly as we head into our busy season.

A balanced diet is a great way to ensure you have plenty of energy throughout the day. Fuel your body with fruits, vegetables, carbs, and good proteins, which provide a sustained source of energy, instead of high-sugar or high-fat foods that cause a spike and then crash in your energy levels.

Hydration is essential for our bodies – it helps us with our temperature regulation, digestion and even skin health. Aim to drink roughly 8-10 cups of water a day.

Having a good night’s sleep allows your body and mind to fully rest. To improve your sleep quality limit the amount of caffeine you drink, go to bed and wake up at the same times each day, avoid large meals late at night to allow proper digestion and reduce screen time just before you sleep.

Rotating through different tasks helps to prevent physical strains by not aggravating the same area. If you’re feeling pain anywhere, it’s a good idea to recognise this early and let your supervisor or manager know.

Here's some safety conversation starters you can use with your colleagues:

  • Have you found any go-to snacks that keep you going?
  • What’s your favourite quick and easy meal to make after work?
  • What helps you remember to stay hydrated during the day?
  • Have you found a drink bottle or system that works well for you?
  • How are your energy levels today?
  • What helps you switch off and wind down after work?
  • What’s your favourite way to move or stay active?
