Posted on Tuesday, 7 April 2026
Autumn is a great time to plant, as soil is still warm and plants have the winter to settle their roots and get ready to flourish in spring.
It's a great time to plant:
- Herbs like coriander and parsley
- Root vegetables like onions, radish, and carrots
- Fruit trees like apples, apricots, lemons, limes, feijoas, mandarins, and oranges
- Blueberries
- Rhubarb
- Brassicas like cauliflower, cabbage, and brussels sprouts
- Green leafy vegetables like silverbeet, kale, spinach, bok choi, and lettuce
- Leeks
- Peas
Harvest:
- Beetroot
- Bok choi
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
- Carrot
- Cauliflower
- Kale
- Leek
- Lettuce
- Mesclun
- Onion
- Parsley
- Potatoes
- Radish
- Silverbeet
- Spinach
Here's a quick tip:
If you have tomatoes, pull out plants and leave any green fruits on a windowsill to ripen in the sun (this may take a few weeks).
