The Local Butcher wins medals

The Local Butcher has been recognised at the 2026 Dunningham’s Great New Zealand Sausage Competition, taking home two medals.

Their Irish Pork Sausage won silver in the traditional category, and their Lamb, Tomato, Spinach and Cheese Sausage earned bronze in the gourmet category.

A big thanks to Butcher Doug McKenzie for creating these award-winning flavours, and Store Manager Jeff Luttrell for his hard work promoting the shop at these events.

To thank the local community for its support, The Local Butcher is hosting a free sausage sizzle on Wednesday 21 October featuring the award-winning flavours.
