October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Posted on Friday, 2 October 2026
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer for New Zealand women, with about 3,400 women diagnosed each year. Men can also develop breast cancer, so it’s important for everyone to know what’s normal for them and get any changes checked by a doctor.
Breast Cancer Foundation NZ has information about breast awareness, diagnosis and treatment, supporting someone with breast cancer, and ways to get involved. Find out more here.
The Pink Ribbon Street Appeal is taking place on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, and volunteers are needed for two-hour collection shifts. If you’re keen to help, you can register here.
You can also purchase a range of Pink Ribbon branded products to support the cause.
