Mid Canterbury Fijian Independence Day

The Mid Canterbury Fijian Community Group celebrated Fiji Day in Ashburton on Saturday 10 October.

Several ANZCO Foods employees attended events throughout the day, and ANZCO Foods Canterbury provided meat for the celebration feast.

Chris Hindson, Site Operations Manager at ANZCO Foods Canterbury, also attended and was presented with a salusalu, a traditional Fijian garland, in recognition of the strong connections between the Canterbury site and the local Fijian community. The salusalu is a symbol of hospitality, respect, and appreciation.

The day was an opportunity to pass on traditions, help younger generations connect with their Fijian heritage and share their culture with the wider Mid Canterbury community.
