Meet Trish McGuigan

Cleaner at Waitara

Trish has been part of the cleaning team at ANZCO Foods Waitara for the past four years, helping make sure the site is clean and ready for production.

The cleaning team works across the cooked jerky, raw jerky, and patty production areas. Once they've finished cleaning one area, they move on to the next.

Trish usually works from 10pm to 5am, although the team sometimes comes in earlier to get things done. She's also a first aider for the night shift and has previously been a health and safety representative, a role she'd be keen to take on again if time allows.

Before joining ANZCO, Trish spent nine years working as a healthcare assistant in a rest home. She still works as a community support worker alongside her role at Waitara. She enjoys the work, particularly the opportunity to get out into the community and spend time with people.

While the hours and demands of the job haven't surprised her, Trish says it's been interesting to see how Waitara operates. The cleaning team works closely with the machinery but don't often see it running during production, so she enjoys when she gets the chance to see the site in operation. She also appreciates the people she works with, saying the team gets along and work together well.

Outside of work, Trish enjoys keeping active and spending time outdoors. She's often out horse riding, biking, walking, or spending time with her animals, particularly on weekends when she has more time to herself.

Trish also enjoys her downtime. Her favourite way to unwind after a long day is simple – a cup of tea, some time to relax, and a good sleep!
