Meet Tavita Soti
Process Worker at Rangitīkei
Tavita joined ANZCO Foods Rangitīkei after moving to New Zealand from Samoa. He comes from a long line of farmers, but when he saw an advertisement for ANZCO Foods, he was interested and decided to apply.
He arrived in New Zealand three years ago and has worked on the slaughter floor at ANZCO Foods Rangitīkei ever since. He’s done a range of jobs, from helping with cleaning during lunch breaks to setting up the room, but he currently works on the gut stand.
Tavita says he enjoys living in New Zealand, although he still misses parts of home. He likes how multicultural it is here and enjoys getting to know people from different backgrounds, particularly as he lives in group accommodation with other ANZCO employees from around the world.
He wants to make the most of his time working here. Tavita says work is the reason he came to New Zealand, and being here means he can send more money home to support his family.
Outside work, Tavita enjoys hanging out with his workmates who live in the same accommodation and going for walks. He also has a one-year-old daughter who keeps him busy.
