Meet Maryke Joubert
Engineering Administrator at Canterbury
Maryke has been at ANZCO Foods for nearly three years. She started out at ANZCO Foods Kōkiri, where she credits Site Manager Hayden Lister with providing her valuable opportunities to learn about logistics, cut plans, dry stores, and engineering. She says this exposure gave her a well-rounded understanding of the business and helped build a solid foundation for her growth.
Last year, she transferred to the ANZCO Foods Canterbury site, where she was offered an opportunity within the engineering department. Her manager at the time, Jacques, helped her expand her skills and confidence in this department. Now, her day-to-day role involves payroll, permit control, training, contract management, and health and safety compliance.
What stands out to Maryke about ANZCO is the close-knit, family-like culture, the continuous support from leadership, and the open-door approach that encourages communication and growth. She also appreciates that management invests in improving employees' skills and knowledge, creating an environment where people are empowered to succeed.
Before making the move to New Zealand, Maryke lived in South Africa, where she worked as a Senior Independent Financial Advisor, a Wealth Strategist, and an HR Officer and counsellor.
Outside work, Maryke enjoys hiking and seeing new places. After a busy day, she spends time with her husband and dogs or plays squash. She says she's married to her best friend, and while they don't have children, they have two fur babies who made the move with them from South Africa to New Zealand. Her claim to fame is that she was featured in a music video by a South African band!
