Meet Leighton Lucas

Process Worker at Green Island

Leighton is a Process Worker at ANZCO Foods Green Island.

Having worked at the site for nine years, he's a bit of a jack of all trades. He can work in most departments around the site including the former, grill room, and pack room, but the area he mainly spends his time in is the processing room. Here, Leighton and his two teammates work together to decarton and mince meat, weigh ingredients like onions and textured vegetable protein, and mix everything together ready for patties. He says the specifics of what they do change day to day, depending on what type of product they're making.

He joined ANZCO after leaving high school and says he's mostly been surprised by the dynamics of working with people from many different walks of life. His team are all different ages, but he says they all get on pretty well.

Outside work, Leighton mostly enjoys rugby. He keeps up with the NRL, but will also tune in to big rugby union games. He's played rugby most of his life and currently plays for Green Island's club. When he gets home from a busy day at work, Leighton usually heads to sleep for a couple of hours, and then has dinner and relaxes.
