Meet Jerry Greer

Maintenance Carpenter at Canterbury

Jerry has worked at ANZCO Foods Canterbury for eight years and is currently a Maintenance Carpenter, helping keep the site and its facilities in good shape.

Jerry works alongside Engineering and Site Services Manager Heyden Davis to look after the building exteriors and grounds, maintain amenities, and carry out roadworks. He's also been known to build a thing or two around the site.

Jerry first joined ANZCO in 2018, working in the Canterbury lamb yards after moving to New Zealand from Australia. After years in management and construction, he was looking for a break from responsibility, but that didn't last long. His predecessor, known as 'Splinter', soon recruited him as his replacement so he could retire.

Originally from the Puget Sound area of Washington, USA, Jerry has had a varied career. He spent his early years commercial fishing in Alaska, and learned different building trades during the off-seasons. He held foreman, supervisor and factory management roles before running his own construction company which built and renovated properties and eventually specialised in roofing.

In 2003, Jerry moved to Australia, where he helped build SIPS Australia from the ground up, working between site manager and factory manager roles before eventually making the move to New Zealand.

After a busy day keeping Canterbury in shape, Jerry's favourite way to unwind is simple – kicking his feet up and enjoying a cold one!
