Livestock conference

Posted on Friday, 21 August 2026

The annual Livestock Conference was held yesterday in Hamilton.

The conference is an opportunity for our livestock reps, who often work individually across rural New Zealand, to come together, catch up with each other, and hear updates from around the business and the industry.

A highlight of the conference was hearing from our guest speaker, Willie Apiata VC, who shared some of his experiences and spoke about resilience, leadership, teamwork, and performing under pressure. Willie is New Zealand’s only living recipient of the Victoria Cross, our country’s highest award for gallantry. He received the VC for his actions in Afghanistan in 2004, when, under heavy enemy fire, he carried a seriously wounded colleague across exposed ground to safety before returning to the fight.

Three members of the livestock team were recognised for their long service to the company. Congratulations to Heike Schoultz (5 years), Grant Bunting (10 years), as well as Danny Smith and Marty Spence (15 years) for their contribution to ANZCO Foods.
