Eltham shutdown update

During ANZCO Foods Eltham’s annual shutdown recently, the site team had the opportunity to complete a range of planned maintenance activities.

The primary project during this shutdown was replacing the main beef chain as part of the site’s ongoing predictive maintenance programme after it had been in operation for five years.

The chain is valued at around $30,000. Each of the 370 drive attachments had to be swapped out by hand, making it time-consuming and physically demanding work. Thanks to engineering apprentice Liam and maintenance fitters Ben, Viju, and Joni for completing the replacement safely and efficiently.

More than 3,000 working hours were logged during the two-week shutdown, which included the plant conversion from beef to calves, the chain replacement, and other maintenance activities. Great work to everyone involved in making the shutdown a success.
