Eltham blast freezer upgrade

The team at ANZCO Foods Eltham has started a major upgrade of its main blast freezer tunnel after frost heave issues caused the ground to become uneven and crack.

The project involves excavating both sides of the blast freezer and drilling 14 holes beneath the floor slab to install a new heating system.

The blast freezer tunnel is more than 35 years old so there was some uncertainty about what the team might encounter during the work. However, thanks to our staff and contractors, along with favourable weather, the project has progressed exceptionally well.

Work started at the end of September, and the project is already ahead of schedule. All heating pipes have now been successfully installed, putting the team in a great position for the next stage of the upgrade.
