ANZCO Foods has now received all the required regulatory approvals to buy 100% of the Greenlea Group which includes Greenlea Premier Meats and shares in the Waitoa Industrial Estate and associated businesses.
The purchase is about securing the long-term future of both companies and brings together the best of two established New Zealand red meat businesses with highly complementary strengths – North and South island operations, shared values, and a strong commitment to staff, farmers, customers and communities.
It creates a larger, more resilient, and more diversified red meat business that combines the best of both businesses, focused on creating more value for New Zealand farmers on the world stage.
Greenlea has a long and positive history, and we are thrilled to have it as part of the wider ANZCO Foods Group.
There is strong strategic and operational alignment between the two businesses, with complementary products, export markets and operating footprints across New Zealand.
Greenlea brings knowledge in areas that ANZCO can learn and grow from and ANZCO brings capability and strengths in areas that will support Greenlea’s growth, particularly in value-add processing.
ANZCO has confirmed its commitment to operate Greenlea as a standalone business. This means the Greenlea name and brand remain, and existing ways of working continue.
Greenlea Premier Meats Managing Director Tony Egan will continue to be involved in the business as an advisor to ANZCO Foods and he will be on the new Greenlea board.
Formalities for the deal are set to be completed by 30 September 2026 and ANZCO Foods will officially take ownership of the Greenlea Group on 1 October 2026.
